Rei Toma is a Japanese manga artist known for her work in the shōjo manga genre. She began her professional career with the manga Gakuen Babysitters, which was published in the magazine LaLa. Toma is best recognised for her series Dawn of the Arcana (Reimei no Arcana), which was first published in 2009 by Shogakukan in Japan. The series was later released in English by VIZ Media under their Shojo Beat imprint.
Following the success of Dawn of the Arcana, Toma created The Water Dragon’s Bride (Suijin no Hanayome), which was also published by Shogakukan and subsequently released in English by VIZ Media. Her works are characterised by fantasy settings and intricate character relationships, appealing to a wide audience of young readers.
In 2019, Rei Toma’s manga The King’s Beast (Ō no Kemono) began serialisation in Shogakukan’s Cheese! magazine. This series has also been published in English by VIZ Media, continuing her presence in the international manga market.
Rei Toma’s Dawn of the Arcana was first published in English by VIZ Media in 2011.
