Rebecca Orwin is a British author of middle-grade fantasy whose work draws on a long-standing interest in storytelling across books and film. She grew up in Chesterfield in a family that encouraged reading and creative thinking from an early age.
Orwin studied at Newcastle University, completing a BA in English Literature followed by an MA in Creative Writing. During her postgraduate work she focused on narrative structure and character development, which informed her move into writing for children.
Her debut novel, The Monsters at the End of the World, is a fantasy adventure set in a coastal town generations after a cataclysm known as the Ruin. The story follows a girl named Sunny, who has been raised to fear the creatures that inhabit the sea, until she encounters a being called Mo who challenges the beliefs she has grown up with. Aimed at readers aged nine and above, the book is illustrated by Oriol Vidal.
Puffin acquired The Monsters at the End of the World for Penguin Random House UK in a six-figure deal, with publication set for 8 January 2026.
