Paul Howard (born 1967) is a British children’s illustrator. He provided the artwork for Allan Ahlberg’s picture book The Bravest Ever Bear, which won a Blue Peter Book Award, and has illustrated fiction and picture books for authors including Anne Fine, Gene Kemp, Joan Lingard, Penelope Lively, Jan Mark and Jenny Nimmo.
Howard’s illustration work ranges from picture books to junior fiction series, including contributions to the Animal Ark Pets titles. Alongside illustration, he has written and illustrated his own picture books, among them I Went to the Supermarket and I Went to See Santa.
Recent projects include Joe Wicks’s picture-book series the Burpee Bears, created with co-writer Vivian French and illustrated by Howard for HarperCollins Children’s Books. Titles include The Burpee Bears and A Christmas Adventure.
Bedtime for the Burpee Bears was selected as the official World Book Day £1 book in 2023.
