Mitch Johnson biography

Mitch Johnson is a British author known for writing children’s fiction. He studied English Literature at the University of East Anglia. Johnson’s debut novel, Kick, was published by Usborne in 2017. The book follows the story of a young boy in Indonesia who dreams of becoming a footballer. Kick was recognised with the 2018 Branford Boase Award, which celebrates outstanding debut novels for children.

Following his debut, Johnson wrote Pop!, published by Orion Children’s Books in 2020. This novel explores themes of consumerism and adventure through the story of a group of children who discover a mysterious can of pop. In 2022, Johnson released Future Hero: Race to Fire Mountain, the first in a series published by Scholastic, which introduces readers to a fantasy world inspired by African mythology.

Johnson’s work has been noted for addressing social and environmental issues within accessible narratives for young readers. His books are published in the UK by Usborne, Orion Children’s Books, and Scholastic. In 2018, Kick won the Branford Boase Award.
