Mick Manning is a British author and illustrator known for his work in children’s literature. He studied illustration at the Royal College of Art in London, where he met his future collaborator and partner, Brita Granström. Together, they have created numerous award-winning children’s books.
Manning’s career in children’s literature began with the publication of The World is Full of Babies! in 1996, which won the Smarties Silver Award. His work often combines educational themes with engaging storytelling, making complex subjects accessible to young readers.
Some of his notable works include What’s Under the Bed?, Yuck!, and How Did I Begin?. These books are characterized by their interactive and informative nature, often encouraging children to explore and learn about the world around them.
Manning and Granström have received several accolades for their collaborative work. Their book Tail-End Charlie, which tells the story of Manning’s father’s experiences as an RAF air gunner during World War II, was shortlisted for the Blue Peter Book Awards in 2010.
In addition to his work with Granström, Manning has also contributed to various educational projects and exhibitions, further establishing his reputation in the field of children’s literature.
