Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Meg Rosoff is an American-born British author known for her work in young adult fiction. She studied at Harvard University and later at Saint Martin’s School of Art in London. Rosoff’s debut novel, How I Live Now, was published in 2004 by Penguin. The book won the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, the Michael L. Printz Award, and the Branford Boase Award. It was also shortlisted for the Whitbread Children’s Book Award and the Orange Prize for New Writers.
Her subsequent novels include Just in Case (2006), which won the Carnegie Medal, What I Was (2007), The Bride’s Farewell (2009), and There Is No Dog (2011). Rosoff has also written Picture Me Gone (2013), which was a finalist for the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature in the United States. In addition to novels, she has published picture books such as Jumpy Jack & Googily (2008).
Rosoff’s books have been translated into multiple languages and have received international recognition. In 2016, she received the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award, one of the most prestigious prizes in children’s literature.
