Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Mark Haddon is a British author and illustrator known for his work in children’s and young adult literature. He studied English at Merton College, Oxford. Haddon has written and illustrated a number of books for children, including the Agent Z series, which began with Agent Z Meets the Masked Crusader published in 1993. He has also written picture books such as Gilbert’s Gobstopper and The Sea of Tranquility.
In addition to his work for younger readers, Haddon is the author of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, published in 2003 by Jonathan Cape. This novel, which features a fifteen-year-old protagonist, has been recognised with several awards, including the Whitbread Book of the Year Award in 2003.
