Marianna Shek is an Australian author and screenwriter known for her work in children’s literature and young adult fiction. She has written picture books, middle grade novels, and short stories, often exploring themes of identity, culture, and belonging. Shek’s writing frequently draws on her Chinese heritage and experiences as a second-generation migrant.
Her published works include the picture book The Stolen Button, which was illustrated by Oamul Lu and published by Christmas Press in 2017. The story is inspired by Chinese folklore and follows a young girl on a magical journey. Shek has also contributed to anthologies such as Kindling and Stories for Strange Times, and her short stories have appeared in various literary magazines.
In addition to her work as an author, Marianna Shek has experience in screenwriting and has written for short films and web series. She is a co-founder of the small press imprint Christmas Press, which specialises in illustrated books for children and young readers.
Shek’s picture book The Stolen Button was published by Christmas Press in 2017.
