Marc Norman biography

Marc Norman is an American screenwriter, novelist and playwright. His work spans film, television and fiction, with credits that include studio features and literary projects across several decades.

Norman is best known for co-writing the screenplay for Shakespeare in Love with Tom Stoppard. The film achieved widespread recognition, and he also served as a co-producer. Earlier screenwriting credits include Oklahoma Crude, The Killer Elite and the television movie The Challenge.

His books include the novels Bike Riding in Los Angeles, Oklahoma Crude and Fool’s Errand. He is also the author of the non-fiction study What Happens Next?: A History of American Screenwriting, published in 2008.

At the 71st Academy Awards in 1999, Norman won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for Shakespeare in Love.
