Kristen Mai Giang is a children’s author whose work draws on her experiences as a Vietnamese American. She is the author of the picture book The Paper Kingdom, illustrated by Chris Sasaki and published by Random House Books for Young Readers in 2020. The story is inspired by her childhood and family, focusing on themes of imagination and resilience. Giang has also written Ginger and Chrysanthemum, illustrated by Shirley Chan and published by Levine Querido in 2020, which explores friendship and cultural identity.
Kristen Mai Giang’s writing often reflects her background and heritage, aiming to share stories that resonate with children from diverse backgrounds. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI). Her picture book The Paper Kingdom was published in 2020.
