Katie Bernet biography

Katie Bernet is a young adult author and a long-standing member of the DFW Writers’ Workshop. She served as director of the 2025 DFW Writers’ Conference. Her debut novel, Beth Is Dead, is published by Sarah Barley Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster Books for Young Readers. The novel reimagines Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women as a contemporary YA mystery/thriller.

International rights for Beth Is Dead include a UK edition from Scholastic, alongside additional foreign-language editions announced by the author’s representatives. Publisher materials describe the book as a multi-voice thriller centred on the March sisters in a modern setting.

Beth Is Dead was published on 6 January 2026 (ISBN 9781665988698).
