Karsten Müller (born 1970) is a German chess grandmaster and author noted for his writing on endgames. He earned the grandmaster title in 1998 and has contributed regularly to specialist chess periodicals and training platforms.
With Frank Lamprecht he co-authored two widely used references, Secrets of Pawn Endings (2000) and Fundamental Chess Endings (2001). Subsequent works include How to Play Chess Endgames (with Wolfgang Pajeken, 2008) and the advanced study Understanding Rook Endgames (with Yakov Konoval, 2016). His instructional material also appears in multimedia formats for ChessBase, alongside a long-running column on practical endgames.
Müller has analysed high-level events and players in book form and on publisher platforms, and his endgame coverage is used by club and professional players as structured study material and for reference.
He completed a PhD in mathematics at the University of Hamburg in 2002.
