Jennie Cashman Wilson is an author, educator and coach. Her debut picture book, Becoming Brave, illustrated by Tomekah George, was published by Little Tiger in 2023. Inspired by her own experience of loss, the book explores themes of love, grief and courage, showing how facing fear can help children find inner strength.
Before writing for children, she worked in arts fundraising and education. Following the death of her husband, jazz musician Abram Wilson, in 2012, she co-founded the Abram Wilson charity to support young people from underrepresented backgrounds in music.
The idea for Becoming Brave grew from a live storytelling event at Birmingham Symphony Hall in 2019, where she shared her personal story with primary school children. Encouraged by its reception, she developed it into her first published book.
