Jacob Sam-La Rose biography

Jacob Sam-La Rose is a British poet, editor, and educator known for his work in poetry and spoken word. He has played a significant role in developing youth poetry initiatives and has worked extensively with young writers. Sam-La Rose has served as a poet-in-residence and has led workshops and projects for various organisations, including the Barbican, the National Theatre, and the Arvon Foundation.

His poetry collection Breaking Silence was published by Bloodaxe Books in 2011. The collection was shortlisted for the Forward Prize for Best First Collection and the Fenton Aldeburgh First Collection Prize in the same year. Sam-La Rose’s poetry has also appeared in anthologies and literary journals.

In addition to his writing, Sam-La Rose has contributed to the development of poetry education programmes, including the Barbican Young Poets and the Spoken Word Education Programme. He has mentored emerging poets and has been involved in international projects related to poetry and creative writing.
