Graham Greene was an English novelist, short story writer and journalist. He studied at Balliol College, Oxford, before working as a sub-editor at The Times and later turning to full-time writing.
Greene wrote more than twenty novels, many exploring political and moral issues. His works include Brighton Rock (1938), The Power and the Glory (1940), The Heart of the Matter (1948) and The Quiet American (1955). Several of his novels have been adapted into films, and he also wrote screenplays, including for The Third Man (1949), directed by Carol Reed.
The Power and the Glory was awarded the Hawthornden Prize in 1941.
