Esther Coombs biography

Esther Coombs is a British illustrator and author known for her work in children’s publishing. She studied at the University for the Creative Arts in Kent, where she developed her skills in illustration and design. Coombs has illustrated a range of children’s books, activity books, and non-fiction titles, often focusing on themes such as architecture, travel, and creativity.

Her published works include Monuments of the World (Button Books), which introduces young readers to famous landmarks through detailed illustrations and facts. She has also illustrated My First London Bus and My First London Taxi for Button Books, both of which are designed as interactive board books for younger children. In addition, Coombs has contributed to titles such as Make and Play: Nativity (Nosy Crow) and Make and Play: Christmas, which encourage hands-on creativity and imaginative play.

Coombs’s illustrations are characterised by their intricate line work and vibrant use of colour, often drawing inspiration from urban environments and everyday objects. Alongside her work in publishing, she has produced designs for stationery, homeware, and public art projects.

In 2018, Esther Coombs illustrated Monuments of the World for Button Books.
