Erik Kriek biography

Erik Kriek is an illustrator, designer and comic artist from Amsterdam. His work includes the Gutsman comics, and he won the Dutch Stripschapprijs in 2008 for Gutsman.

In 2012 Kriek published From Beyond and Other Tales, a collection of graphic reworkings of short stories by H. P. Lovecraft. His Dutch-language Het onzienbare en andere verhalen presents Kriek as adaptor and illustrator, with H. P. Lovecraft as the original-story author.

Kriek wrote and drew In the Pines: 5 Murder Ballads, a graphic novel built around murder ballads. The book was published by Fantagraphics in a 132-page edition with ISBN 978-1-68396-011-9, and its reviewed publication month was July 2017.

His other works include The Exile, published in 2019 with Sean Michael Robinson as editor, and The Pit, published in 2023 with Kriek as author, illustrator and translator and Robinson as text adaptor.
