Emily Carter biography

Emily Carter is a British illustrator and designer whose work appears in children’s non-fiction. She created the artwork for Insectarium in the Welcome to the Museum series, written by Dave Goulson and published in the UK by Big Picture Press. The book was developed in partnership with the Royal Entomological Society and presents large-format galleries exploring insect biodiversity.

A US edition of Insectarium was released by Candlewick Press. Carter’s related projects include the Insectarium Activity Book, written by Dave Goulson and published by Big Picture Press, which features activities and visual material derived from the main volume.

Carter’s illustration practice draws on detailed natural history imagery and has been profiled by children’s publishers and books organisations associated with the Welcome to the Museum list.

Insectarium was published in the UK in 2024 and in the US in 2025.
