Elli Woollard biography

Elli Woollard is a British author known for her work in children’s literature, particularly picture books and poetry. She began her writing career as a poet, with her poems appearing in various anthologies. Woollard is recognised for her engaging rhymes and humorous storytelling, often collaborating with illustrators to bring her texts to life.

Her debut picture book, Woozy the Wizard: A Spell to Get Well, was published by Faber & Faber in 2014 and illustrated by Al Maccuish. She has since written several other picture books, including The Giant of Jum, illustrated by Benji Davies and published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2015. Woollard has also worked with illustrator Steven Lenton on the Rex series, which includes titles such as Rex: Dinosaur in Disguise.

In addition to her original stories, Woollard has adapted classic tales for younger readers. Her adaptation of The Adventures of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo was published by Walker Books. She has also contributed to poetry collections and anthologies aimed at children.

Woollard’s books are published by several major UK publishers, including Macmillan Children’s Books, Faber & Faber, and Nosy Crow. Her picture book The Giant of Jum was published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2015.
