Dylan Loeb McClain is an American journalist and author with a specialism in chess. He worked as a reporter and editor at The New York Times, where he wrote the chess column and covered international tournaments.
He co-authored Chess World Champions: Masters of Attack and Defence (2006) and contributed to guides for players and enthusiasts. McClain has also reported on financial news and international affairs, combining his journalism with commentary on the cultural significance of chess.
His work has been recognised in both journalism and the chess community. Chess World Champions: Masters of Attack and Defence was published by Everyman Chess in 2006.
