Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Dinara Mirtalipova is an Uzbek-born, US-based illustrator and designer. She studied programming and computer science in Tashkent before moving to the United States, where she pursued a career in the visual arts.
Her illustration draws on Uzbek folk art, textiles and storytelling traditions, featuring bold patterns and motifs. She is the author-illustrator of Russian Tales (2017), a collection of traditional stories published by Chronicle Books, and has illustrated children’s titles including Leila in Saffron (2019) by Rukhsanna Guidroz and Golden Domes and Silver Lanterns (2022 edition) by Hena Khan.
Mirtalipova also runs a design studio producing prints, stationery and homeware. Leila in Saffron, illustrated by Mirtalipova, was published by Salaam Reads in 2019.
