Devon Holzwarth biography

Devon Holzwarth is an author and illustrator known for her work in children’s picture books. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she earned a degree in illustration. Holzwarth’s artistic style is characterised by the use of vibrant colours and expressive characters, often drawing inspiration from nature and her multicultural background.

Her debut as both author and illustrator came with the picture book Found You, published by Scholastic in 2020. The story explores themes of friendship and belonging, and showcases Holzwarth’s distinctive illustrative approach. In addition to her own writing, Holzwarth has illustrated books for other authors, including Rosa’s Song by Helena Ku Rhee, published by Random House Studio in 2022, and My Two Border Towns by David Bowles, published by Kokila in 2021.

Holzwarth’s work has received recognition in the children’s publishing industry. My Two Border Towns, which she illustrated, was named a 2022 Pura Belpré Honor Book for Illustration.
