David Squires (born 1974) is a British-Australian cartoonist and illustrator whose work appears regularly in publications such as The Guardian, L’Équipe and others.
He launched his cartooning career through contributions to the Swindon Town fanzine The 69er as a teenager, and later was commissioned to design football mascots including Rockin’ Robin (Swindon Town) and Herbie the Hammer (West Ham United).
In 2016 Squires published The Illustrated History of Football with Penguin, a work combining satire, historical commentary and his characteristic style.
He relocated from London to Sydney in 2009 and subsequently acquired Australian citizenship.
Among his more recent works is Chaos in the Box: Chronicles from Modern Football, reflecting a continuing focus on sport, culture and humour.
