David Haig is an English actor and playwright. His first play, My Boy Jack, premiered at Hampstead Theatre on 13 October 1997 and examines Rudyard Kipling’s response to his son’s death in the First World War.
An ITV television film based on My Boy Jack was broadcast on 11 November 2007, with Haig portraying Rudyard Kipling and Daniel Radcliffe playing John Kipling.
Haig’s second play, The Good Samaritan, opened at Hampstead Theatre on 6 July 2000.
Pressure premiered at the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, on 1 May 2014, transferred to the Minerva Theatre, Chichester, later that month, and had its West End run at the Ambassadors Theatre from June 2018. The drama centres on meteorologist James Stagg and the D-Day weather forecast.
He was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 Birthday Honours for services to drama.
