Danielle Brown biography

Danielle Brown MBE is a British children’s writer and former competitive archer. She won Paralympic gold medals in individual compound archery in Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Brown held the world number one ranking in her sport throughout her archery career and is a five-time World Champion. She became the first athlete with a disability to represent England in an able-bodied event at the Commonwealth Games, where she won a team gold medal in 2010.

While competing, she studied law at the University of Leicester, graduating with first-class honours. She was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2013 New Year Honours for services to archery.

Brown’s authorial work is focused on non-fiction for children. Her titles include Run Like a Girl: 50 Extraordinary and Inspiring Sportswomen, which won Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Year in 2022. Other works are Be Your Best Self – Life Skills for Unstoppable Kids and Girls Rule: 50 Women Who Changed The World.

Her agency representation for children’s books is Darley Anderson Children’s.

Awards include Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Year 2022 for Run Like a Girl.
