Clara Dackenberg biography

Clara Dackenberg is a Swedish illustrator and visual artist best known for her work in children’s books. She trained at HDK (the School of Design and Crafts) in Gothenburg and at Konstfack (University of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm.

Dackenberg made her picture-book illustration debut in 2010 and has since illustrated multiple children’s titles for Swedish publishers. Her work has also been selected for the Contemporary Swedish Illustrators exhibition connected with the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

Her international credits include the English-language edition of The Playdate by Uje Brandelius, translated by Nichola Smalley and published by Lantana in 2025, with Dackenberg credited as illustrator.

In 2019, she received the Ilon Wikland scholarship.
