Ciannon Smart is a Jamaican-born British author known for her young adult fantasy novels. Her debut novel, Witches Steeped in Gold, was published by HarperCollins in 2021. The book draws on Jamaican folklore and follows two rival witches who form an uneasy alliance. Witches Steeped in Gold was selected as a Barnes & Noble Young Adult Book Club pick and received attention for its world-building and cultural influences. The sequel, Empress Crowned in Red, was published in 2023. Smart’s work is published by HarperTeen, an imprint of HarperCollins. She has participated in literary events such as YALC (Young Adult Literature Convention) in London. Her novels have been translated into multiple languages.
