Catherine Emmett is a British children’s author. She studied at Durham University. Emmett worked in London for over a decade before turning to writing. Her debut picture book, King of the Swamp, illustrated by Ben Mantle, was published by Simon & Schuster Children’s UK in 2020. The book was shortlisted for the Derby Children’s Picture Book Award in 2021.
Emmett has also written The Pet, illustrated by David Tazzyman, published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2021, and The Dodo Made Me Do It, illustrated by Claire Powell, published by Macmillan Children’s Books in 2022. Her books are published in the UK and have been translated into other languages.
Her work has been recognised for its appeal to young readers and is used in schools and libraries. King of the Swamp was selected for the Summer Reading Challenge in 2021.
