Clive Staples Lewis, known as C.S. Lewis, was a British writer and academic. He held academic positions at both the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. Lewis is best known for his series The Chronicles of Narnia, published between 1950 and 1956. The series includes seven books: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (1950), Prince Caspian (1951), The Horse and His Boy (1954), The Magician’s Nephew (1955), The Last Battle (1956), The Silver Chair (1953), and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader (1952).
Lewis also wrote works of fiction for adults, including The Space Trilogy and The Screwtape Letters. His non-fiction works include Mere Christianity, The Problem of Pain, and A Grief Observed. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was included in Time magazine’s list of the 100 best English-language novels published since 1923.
