Boichi biography

Boichi is the pen name of a South Korean-born manga artist who works primarily in Japan. He began his career in South Korea, publishing works in the science fiction genre before moving to Japan to pursue manga professionally. Boichi is known for his detailed art style and dynamic storytelling.

He gained recognition in Japan with the manga series Sun-Ken Rock, which was serialised in Young King magazine from 2006 to 2016. The series was collected in 25 volumes by Shōnen Gahōsha. Boichi has also published several one-shot manga and short story collections, including Hotel and Wallman.

In 2017, Boichi began illustrating the manga adaptation of Dr. Stone, written by Riichiro Inagaki. Dr. Stone was serialised in Weekly Shōnen Jump and concluded in 2022, with a total of 26 collected volumes published by Shueisha. The series received the 64th Shogakukan Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2019.

Boichi has also contributed to other manga projects, including Trigun: Multiple Bullets and a special chapter of One Piece titled Roronoa Zoro: Umi ni Chiru. His work has been published in multiple languages and has received recognition for its artistic quality and storytelling.

In 2019, Dr. Stone won the Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen manga.
