Bisco Hatori biography

Bisco Hatori is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the series Ouran High School Host Club. The series was first published in Hakusensha’s LaLa magazine from 2002 to 2010 and was later collected in eighteen tankōbon volumes. Ouran High School Host Club was adapted into a 26-episode anime television series in 2006 and a live-action television drama in 2011. The manga has been licensed in English by Viz Media.

Hatori made her professional debut with the manga A Moment of Romance in 1999, which appeared in LaLa DX. Following the success of Ouran High School Host Club, she created Millennium Snow, which began serialization in 2001 and concluded in 2014, spanning four volumes. Hatori also authored Behind the Scenes!!, which was serialised in LaLa from 2014 to 2018 and compiled into seven volumes.

Her works have been published by Hakusensha in Japan and have received international distribution. Ouran High School Host Club won the Outstanding Debut award at the 2003 Hakusensha Athena Newcomers’ Awards. The series has achieved significant commercial success, with over 13 million copies in circulation as of 2011.

Hatori’s manga have been translated into multiple languages and adapted into various media formats. Ouran High School Host Club remains her most widely recognised work, with continued popularity in both Japan and abroad.
