Benjamin Read is a British author and comic writer known for his work in children’s and young adult fiction. He co-authored the Adventures on Trains series with M.G. Leonard, which includes titles such as The Highland Falcon Thief, Kidnap on the California Comet, and Murder on the Safari Star. The series has received critical acclaim and was shortlisted for the 2020 British Book Awards in the Children’s Fiction Book of the Year category.
Read is also recognised for his collaboration with illustrator Laura Trinder on the The Midnight Hour trilogy, published by Chicken House. The trilogy comprises The Midnight Hour (2019), The Midnight Howl (2020), and The Midnight Hunt (2021). The Midnight Hour was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2020.
In addition to his novels, Read has written for comics and graphic novels, including the series Porcelain and Briar, published by Improper Books. His work in comics has been recognised with nominations for the British Fantasy Awards.
Benjamin Read’s books have been published by Chicken House and Macmillan Children’s Books. The Highland Falcon Thief was selected as Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month in February 2020.
