Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Becky Colvin is a children’s book author and illustrator. She studied illustration at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol).
In 2023, Colvin won the Macmillan Prize for Illustration for her dummy picture book Shut Down. The same year, she was a runner-up for the Batsford Prize in the children’s illustration category for Shut Down.
Colvin’s debut picture book, The Great Green Island, was published by Macmillan Children’s Books (Pan Macmillan) on July 24, 2025. She also illustrated Princes Don’t Practise by Kathryn Simmonds, scheduled for publication by Macmillan Children’s Books (Pan Macmillan) on August 13, 2026.
