Becky Albertalli is an American author known for her young adult fiction. She published her debut novel, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, in 2015 with Balzer + Bray, an imprint of HarperCollins. The novel won the William C. Morris Award and the German Youth Literature Prize, and was longlisted for the Carnegie Medal. It was adapted into the 2018 film Love, Simon.
Albertalli has written several other novels, including The Upside of Unrequited (2017), Leah on the Offbeat (2018), and What If It’s Us (2018), co-authored with Adam Silvera. Leah on the Offbeat won the Goodreads Choice Award for Best Young Adult Fiction in 2018. She also published Yes No Maybe So (2020) with Aisha Saeed, and Here’s to Us (2021), again with Adam Silvera. Her 2022 novel, Imogen, Obviously, was published by Balzer + Bray.
Albertalli’s works have been translated into multiple languages and are published internationally. She has received recognition for her contributions to young adult literature, including nominations for the Lambda Literary Award. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda remains her most widely recognised work, with its film adaptation further increasing its profile.
