Aram Kim is a writer, illustrator, and designer of children’s picture books. She was born in Ohio and raised in South Korea. Alongside creating her own books, she worked in children’s publishing for more than a decade as a designer and later as an art director.
Her debut picture book, Cat on the Bus, was included in the Children’s Choice Reading List 2017 (International Literacy Association and Children’s Book Council) and in the New York Public Library summer reading list for 2018. Her picture books also include No Kimchi for Me! and Let’s Go to Taekwondo, both Junior Library Guild selections, and Sunday Funday in Koreatown, a Junior Library Guild selection.
As a book designer, Kim designed and oversaw award-winning titles including the 2021 Caldecott Medal winner We Are Water Protectors and the 2021 Caldecott Honor book A Place Inside of Me. In January 2025, she left her day job to focus full-time on making her own books.
