Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Annie Booker is an author and illustrator known for natural history and wildlife illustration. She studied Illustration at the University of the West of England.
In 2022, Booker won the Batsford Prize for Illustration People’s Choice Award. Her work for The Great Bear also received a commendation in the Macmillan Prize.
Alongside her illustration work, Booker is a British Trust for Ornithology volunteer and has trained as a bird ringer.
Her debut picture book, The Great Bear, was published by Macmillan Children’s Books on 9 October 2025.
