Anna Ciddor is an Australian author known for her works in children’s and young adult literature. She has written both fiction and non-fiction, with a particular focus on historical themes. Ciddor’s books often draw on her interest in history and her background in mathematics and education.
Her notable works include The Family with Two Front Doors (2016), which is based on her grandmother’s childhood in 1920s Poland, and 52 Mondays (2019), a novel set in 1960s Australia. She is also the author of the Viking Magic trilogy, comprising Runestone (2002), Wolfspell (2003), and Stormriders (2004), which blend historical settings with elements of fantasy.
Ciddor’s non-fiction titles include The Boy Who Stepped Through Time (2021), a time-slip adventure set in ancient Rome, and Runestone, which was recognised as a Notable Book by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) in 2003. The Family with Two Front Doors was shortlisted for the 2017 CBCA Book of the Year for Younger Readers and was also a finalist in the 2017 NSW Premier’s History Awards.
Her books have been published by Allen & Unwin and Penguin Books Australia. Ciddor’s work has been translated into several languages. In 2022, The Boy Who Stepped Through Time was shortlisted for the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year Awards.
Anna Ciddor’s 52 Mondays was listed as a Notable Book by the CBCA in 2020.
