Recommended reading books for primary & secondary aged children in the UK
Alexis Henderson is an American speculative fiction writer. Her debut novel, The Year of the Witching, was published by Ace in July 2020.
The Year of the Witching was shortlisted for the Goodreads Choice Awards in 2020. Henderson’s second novel, House of Hunger, was published in 2022 and was nominated for the Goodreads Choice Award for Readers’ Favourite Horror in 2022.
Her later work includes An Academy for Liars, first published in 2024 (Ace) and published in the UK by Penguin in August 2025.
Her debut young adult novel, When I Was Death, is scheduled for publication by Penguin on 12 March 2026.
