Alan Gibbons is a British author known for his contributions to children’s and young adult literature. He began his writing career in the 1990s and has since published numerous books. Gibbons is recognised for his ability to engage young readers with themes that often reflect social issues and contemporary challenges.
His first book, Whose Side Are You On?, was published in 1996. This debut was followed by a series of successful titles, including Shadow of the Minotaur, which won the Blue Peter Book Award in 2000. The book is part of the Legends series, which combines elements of mythology and adventure.
Gibbons has been shortlisted for several prestigious awards, including the Carnegie Medal. His book The Edge was shortlisted for the Carnegie Medal in 2002. Another notable work, Hold On, was published in 2005 and also received critical acclaim.
