Robin Greenfield is an American environmental activist and writer known for public campaigns that highlight sustainable living. His projects have included long-distance cycling, “Trash Me” awareness work, and a year of growing and foraging all his food to examine consumption and waste.
Greenfield’s first book, Dude Making a Difference: Bamboo Bikes, Dumpster Dives and Other Extreme Adventures Across America (New Society Publishers, 2016), recounts his cross-country sustainability challenges. He later wrote practical titles for young readers: Zero Waste Kids: Hands-On Projects and Activities to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (Quarry Books, 2022) and, with Antonia Banyard, Be the Change: Robin Greenfield’s Call to Kids – Making a Difference in a Messed-Up World (Greystone Books, 2022).
Expanding on his food self-sufficiency work, he published Food Freedom: A Year of Growing and Foraging 100% of My Food with Robin Press in 2024, documenting the skills and community approaches he used to live outside the industrial food system.
Greenfield continues to speak and write about low-impact living, community action, and practical steps readers can take to reduce waste and conserve resources. In 2024 he released Food Freedom with Robin Press, including an ISBN of 9798350732283.
