Lucy Worsley biography

Lucy Worsley is a British historian, author, and broadcaster known for her work in both adult and children’s non-fiction. She is Chief Curator at Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity responsible for the Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, and other historic sites. Worsley has written a range of books for young readers, focusing on British history and notable historical figures.

Her children’s books include Eliza Rose, published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books in 2016, which explores the life of a young girl at the Tudor court. She followed this with Lady Mary in 2018, a novel centred on the childhood of Mary, Queen of Scots. In 2020, Worsley published The Austen Girls, a historical novel set in Regency England, also with Bloomsbury Children’s Books.

Worsley’s writing for young people is informed by her academic background and her experience presenting history programmes for television. She has also written non-fiction for children, including Fagin’s Girl, which was published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books in 2023.

Lucy Worsley’s The Austen Girls was published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books in 2020.
