Frances Durkin is a British author known for her work in children’s historical fiction. She is the writer of the Hilda series, which includes titles such as Hilda: The Great Crown Jewels Robbery and Hilda: The Ghost Ship. Durkin collaborates with illustrator Grace Cooke on these books, which are published by Otter-Barry Books. The series introduces young readers to historical settings and events through engaging narratives and illustrations.
Durkin has also contributed to educational resources, including writing for the British Museum and the Young Archaeologists’ Club. Her work often focuses on making history accessible and enjoyable for children. The Hilda series has been recognised for its educational value and is used in schools to support history teaching.
Frances Durkin’s books are available in libraries and bookshops across the UK. Her collaboration with Grace Cooke continues to bring historical stories to a young audience. The Hilda series remains her most widely known published work to date.
