C.K. Smouha is a British children’s author known for picture books that address themes of identity and acceptance. Smouha’s debut book, Born Bad, was published by Cicada Books in 2018. The story, illustrated by Stephen Smith, explores the journey of a wolf questioning his reputation and seeking change. Born Bad was shortlisted for the 2019 Teach Primary Book Awards and the 2019 Derby Children’s Picture Book Award.
In 2019, Smouha published Sock Story, illustrated by Eleonora Marton, also with Cicada Books. The book was shortlisted for the 2020 Teach Primary Book Awards. Smouha’s third picture book, I’m Not a Mouse!, illustrated by Anna Cunha, was released in 2020. This title was longlisted for the 2021 Klaus Flugge Prize, which recognises promising new illustrators of children’s picture books.
Smouha’s works have been translated into several languages, including French and Korean. The author’s books are published by Cicada Books and have received recognition for their exploration of social and emotional themes. In 2021, I’m Not a Mouse! was longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize.
