Christina Balit is a British author and illustrator known for her work in children’s literature. She studied at the Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art. Balit has illustrated a range of books, often drawing on themes from mythology, history, and the natural world. Her distinctive style is characterised by vibrant colours and detailed compositions.
Among her notable works as an illustrator are The Arabian Nights and The Adventures of Odysseus, both retold by Hugh Lupton and Daniel Morden. She has also illustrated Zoo in the Sky and Once Upon a Starry Night, both written by Jacqueline Mitton, which explore the stories behind constellations. In addition to illustrating, Balit has written and illustrated her own books, including The Twelve Labours of Hercules.
Her illustrations have been recognised for their contribution to children’s literature, and her books have been published by a range of publishers, including Frances Lincoln Children’s Books and National Geographic Kids. In 2018, Christina Balit illustrated The Adventures of Odysseus, published by Barefoot Books.
