A.F Harrold biography

A.F. Harrold is an English poet and children’s author whose illustrated novels include The Imaginary with Emily Gravett, first published in the US on 3 March 2015 by Bloomsbury Children’s Books and in the UK paperback on 5 November 2015; The Song from Somewhere Else with Levi Pinfold, published on 3 July 2017 by Bloomsbury USA Childrens; The Afterwards with Emily Gravett, with a Bloomsbury Children’s Books audiobook released on 14 November 2019; and The Worlds We Leave Behind with Levi Pinfold, published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books on 4 August 2022 and in the US on 21 February 2023.

He writes humorous series fiction, including Fizzlebert Stump, beginning with Fizzlebert Stump: The Boy Who Ran Away From the Circus (and joined the library), published on 7 June 2012 by Bloomsbury Children’s Books, with new Bloomsbury audio editions scheduled from 29 January 2026; and Greta Zargo and the Death Robots from Outer Space, published on 7 September 2017 by Bloomsbury Children’s Books with illustrations by Joe Todd‑Stanton.

His poetry for younger readers includes The Book of Not Entirely Useful Advice, illustrated by Mini Grey and published on 23 March 2021 by Bloomsbury Children’s Books, and Pocket Book of Pocket Poems, illustrated by Jack Viant and published on 13 March 2025 by Bloomsbury Education, and he is the anthology editor of Midnight Feasts: Tasty poems chosen by A.F. Harrold, published on 5 October 2023 by Bloomsbury Education. The Worlds We Leave Behind was shortlisted for the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Illustration.
