How to suggest a new book for our reading lists

Welcome, fellow book enthusiasts! As a voracious reader who loves nothing more than seeing children and young adults immersed in the magical worlds of literature, I cannot stress enough the importance of reading for pleasure. And what better way to make reading even more enjoyable than by adding books that reflect the realities of our diverse world? We need your help to expand our children’s book recommendation website and showcase a wide range of authors, from new talent to established bestselling writers. Help us to put a spotlight on books written by “own voices” authors that represent a range of cultures and identities. So, whether you’re a parent, teacher, home educator or librarian, please share with us your favourite books that celebrate humanity’s distinctiveness and foster a love of reading. Let’s keep the excitement going and build a library of books that every child and young adult will love!

We love to receive positive comments and recommendations for great new children’s and YA books from our readers, so please use the form below and let us know which book you want to recommend and which one of our book lists you would love to see it featured in.

Our Process

If we decide to feature your recommended book, we will first add it to the most appropriate online age group, topic book or genre list on our School Reading List Bookshop.org storefront. These online lists are reviewed at the end of each month.

Once your recommended book has been added to our Bookshop.org list we’ll then consider adding it to the relevant page on our website. Typically, primary year group book lists and secondary year group book lists are reviewed half-termly, children’s genre and topic-based book lists are reviewed termly and teaching resource pages are edited at the end of each school year.

Please note, we are only able to feature:

  • Titles that are not already featured on the SRL website. Please check our children’s authors page first.
  • Children’s and YA books that are in print and in stock.
  • Books that are widely available in both physical bookshops located in the UK and UK-based online bookshops.
  • Titles that are listed as available on uk.bookshop.org (please check first by using the search box below, and then paste the URL web address for the book into the recommendation form.)
  • Titles that our readers will be able to purchase easily both online and offline. (Books need to be widely available and available in sufficient quantities to satisfy school orders.)
  • If you want to promote a self-published title, please also have a look at this resource page.

Disclosure: If you buy books linked to our site, we may earn a commission from Bookshop.org, whose fees support independent bookshops.
